Nelson, I just glanced at your bio and discovered we share the same birthday-anniversary date of January 1.


Butthere's an interesting little twist to my story. Because my dad was 50 and my mom was 40 when I came into the world in the wee hours of 1922, I finally figured out that in all probability I was not a "planned" addition to the Wilson clan. My older sisters were 15 and8 at the time.


Because I believe life begins at conception, I counted backward nine months from January 1 and--sure enough--landed on April 1. That might explain a lot of things about me.

Sorry to disappoint you, Warren -- but it's great to learn a little more about you anytime!


1/1 is not my real birthday. I conceal that as (if nothing else) an exercise in privacy protection since privacy is so much on the way out nowadays. My mother was a latecomer child too -- her father was 48 when she was born, the youngest of 5 with a spread of 12 years between them. Having an old (!!!) grandfather was a great advantage to me. He'd witnessed the reinterment of Jefferson Davis in Hollywood Cemetery and lived through two World Wars and the Civil Riots from the beginning (Hellenor Roosevelt and company), and had NO illusions.


At one point Grandfather was 96, Mom was 48, I was 24 and our dog was 12! Think of that, heh.
