My state Senator Jason Crowell, sent me another e-newsletter today, this time the subject was "Thanksgiving". I'm just going to give y'all the abridged version this time.
Among other things in Senator Crowell's email is the fact that:
" The Thanksgiving celebration was designated in 1863 by Congress to take place on the fourth Thursday in November as “a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens."
As usual, I always have a few comments to make to the Senator, after every email I receive from him. Below is my reply to Senator Crowell's email:
" It's interesting that you mention the 4th Thurdsay of November being designated "Thanksgiving" in 1863 by Congress.

<DIV align=justify>Maybe you will find what happened on December 25th, 1863 down in Ripley county just as interesting,</DIV>

<DIV align=justify>Please read this and tell me one good reason why these men should not be honored at Higginsville, and Pilot Knob with the flags that they fought under.</DIV>

<DIV align=justify>This is a lengthy article, but it is only because I did my homework on this one Senator."</DIV>
