20th century film mogul Louis B. Mayer, the Jewish head of 'MGM' studios, was a close friend of New York's Roman Catholic Cardinal Francis Spellman, with whom he dined every time he visited New York City (A large portrait of the Cardinal even hung in Mayer's library). As a consequence he could useSpellman's influence in the Catholic Community, and did...When the Catholic Church or it's censors threatened to ban or have something cut out of one of Mayer's films, he simply called the goodCardinal.

Harry Cohn, the head of 'Columbia Pictures' was another Jewish friend of Cardinal Spellman, and yes, he also visited him every time he went to New York.

Of interest! Money talks, often in a Brooklyn accent. Hey, you all have GOT to see the documentary based on An Empre Of Their Own!

It's simply 90 minutes of desperate backpedaling, simultaneously trying to make out that Jews have and have not done the things they're accused of through movies. Neal Gabler is interviewed in it repeatedly, keeping his best poker face as he tries to buy a little more time for his tribesmen in the face of the sheeple's radically altering worldview.

I once read King Cohn, Harry's unofficial biography. He was, of course, kosher to the core, but in one funny scene, Zionist do-gooders are for the umpteenth time hustling him to make a contribution "relief for the Jews".

"Relief for the Jews!" he scoffs. "What we really need is relief from the Jews!"

The book is politely devastating to its subject. Many producesr made use of the casting couch, but Cohn's was through a special door down a secret passageway from his office.Edited by: Nelson

Harry Cohn ran 'Columbia Pictures' from the 1920s till he died in 1958...When a member of his synagogue asked the rabbi if he could think of 'one good thing to say about Harry,' the rabbi looked at him and said, he's dead.' smileys/smiley19.gif

What do you think of that one Nelson?

Inevitably calls to mind the quip about why so many stars attended L.B. Mayer's funeral: just to make sure he was gone! smileys/smiley36.gif

I don't know about y'all, but there are a few people I've knownthatI feel that way about. It sure is something how some evil people live so long. Well, they will get theirs in the end anyway, so I guess I shouldn't be upset.
