Does anybody happen to have an extra copy of the June 05 NaTimes? That's the only issue I'm missing anymore from the Dixie Diary era.
Does anybody have a favorite issue of the Times, just out of curiosity? Or an all-time favorite NT article of any kind? I'm sure our editor would be much interested in your answer.
Are you tired of checking "Active Topics" and seeing my name dominating? There's an easy solution. Write more! smileys/smiley1.gif
I have an extra copy of the June 2005 NT. Give me a scream using the "private" function of the Discussion Board, we'll trade addresses and I'll mail the mag.

Muich obliged, RG -- have replied to you via Private Messenger.
Now, let me query you all about something else. I know many of you love words, adding them to your arsenal, and homing in ever further on precise meanings. AND I know that many of you share my interest in things Germanic. What would be your dictionary definition of the word angst or agita?-- and what does the wordphobic mean to you? I mean in a conversational sense, and not related to your own personal case at all. Please reply in this thread (if you've got nothing better to do) without checking the dictionary. Am aware what Angst means in German and have just read what it means in Danish, etc.
I have always understoodthe two words to mean a sort of extreme case of jitters or inner disttress, generally in relation to some specific thing or circumstance, with agita a more immediate case (e.g. inner agitation over an immediate crisis -- e.g. witnessing a chronically bad drunk relative tanking up) as opposed to a general ongoing feeling). But I don't findagitain all dictionaries except as "acid indigestion".
I had long thought "phobic" meant"fearful" (and a "phobia" a fear) in 99% of uses in English -- but dictionaries seem to indicate it signifies hatred of something or someone quite often as well.
Just wondering! Thanx!

What are the "six simpel words"?I scanned the article but didn't find 'em. My first guess was "only democracy in the middle east" but then it said they're much older than that.
Six Simple Words
http://www.anu.org/images/temp/f7789732b654b285dbc907b4719d20d6.jpg They seem so harmless, so non-menacing, and yet they are the root of so much of the present evil that mankind is facing today. Just six simple words that carry the weight of the world upon them, six simple words that act as the engine for so much turmoil and unrest.

In case everybody hasn't figured it out, the new name appearing all over the Forum, Scronx, is actually me. I've had a lot of trouble with my site registration (possibly my own doing) and somehow one of the names I'd tried becamethe main one. On Don's advice I just came in as a non-subscriber and that finally worked.
Scronx was a composer -- an obscure one, naturally. I like "buried treasure" in a variety of forms. smileys/smiley14.gif
Say, here's Scronxoid in action ("Immigration Protest Preview"). In the original broadcast they identified me and the simpering seņorita up front.
Notice that in their footage of the previous event they don't show the crowd of 5 or 6 we had for a great counter-protest -- but they do show us,itty-bitty, in the picture for the above link. Just look at the talent they have, making us look like where somewhere off in Albania by ourselves. You could never tell from this shot that we were directly in the very forefront of the crowd of hundreds and hundreds of border breakers where all southbound traffic on Main Street had to turn left right smack AT our group. I have no idea what that large object in the foreground is -- what grade do you suppose this crazy angle would get in any regular, non-political photography course?
For that matter, look at the piece they showed of the crowd of about 1,000WE had for the main event --
......... which this same station described with a straight face as "a few dozen" or something like that.
