One of the problems with the American populace is its view on the character of change; change in opinion- change in culture- change in priorities. Change in America is currently not revolutionary, it is not shocking, it fails to raise an eyebrow in concern. Change in America is now evolutionary in its behavior, by that I do not mean that it is "bound to happen anyway, so just let it be". What I mean when I say evolutionary is that change is subtle, its slow, so slow in fact that our eyes fail to detect it. I want to applaud this discussion board and those of you who take the time to write in and share. My job in life is a soldier in the U.S. Army. I'm an Infantryman and in my job there are many slogans and phrases which help to guide us in being what we call "combat effective" that slogan is-- "Stay Alert & Stay Alive".And gentlemen and ladies that is exactly what we do when we write in on this board. My job as an Infantryman in combat is two-fold; to live and to kill. I live because I stay alert to my surroundings, I kill because I want to live. We live in a world of deception and darkness, our job is to shed light with the power of truth and it is truth which carries true power. Stay alert to what’s happening in our world and in so doing we shall stay alive as will our ideals, those ideals which hold the promise for the success of this great nation which I know we all love.

Yes, the change is gradual, something like the old Bolshevik tactic of "two steps forward, one step backward." When I was in grade school, it was a "given" that America was a white, Christian nation. Now you would be accused of being a racist, bigot, Nazi, KKK'r etc. if you said that. To say "Merry Christmas" in school might get you a week's suspension.
We who stay alert, however, seem to be in the minority these days, to put it mildly. You mentioned Friedrich Nietzsche a few days ago; my favorite quotation (and about the only one I can remember) is regarding the Last Men, from "Zarathustra:"
"No shepherd and one herd; all wanteth the same, and all are equal, and he who hath other sentiments goeth voluntarily into the madhouse."
Seems a bit fitting for our present day and age; maybe there are some shepherds around, but not any Good ones.

If that's the way you feel, why don't you quit the military and join us in the real fight for freedom here in this country? The people really protecting our borders could use the help of someone with military training. "I kill because I want to live" -- then get yourself out of more immediate harm's way, and get busy where it matters most -- saving America from its domestic enemies in the halls of power, stateside. It sounds like you know you're not really killing for any grandiose goal of "fighting terror" or "ridding the world of evildoers" (your president's stated goals) but as a matter of personal survival in hopes of returning to the real world in one piece someday soon. If so, that's good. Everything you said about "change" would seem to bely your earlier assertions that all is well under George W. Bush in the new welfare/warfare state, that Bush's critics should shut up, etc.

So long as we are at war, despite the reasons we are at war, there stands the chance that my fellow American's could die. How could I live with myself if one died cause I wasn't there? That might sound arrogant to some, but in combat you need a man watching your 6, your 3, and your 9. And thats what I do. I feel that's my current duty, by helping to save the lives of my countrymen I'm fulfilling my patriotic duty and afferming to myself the right, not the freedom which all have, but the right to speak out. Whether our country is right for going to war is obsolete, we are at war and the job I have chosen is one who will fight that war. A docter might have to save the life of a murderer one day, cause he was shot in his apprehension as a suspect in a crime which he is guilty of, the doctor might know this, he might not like it, but his job demands it. Yes I approve of the War in Iraq, and however odd it may seem to you I support those of you in this forum who oppose the war in Iraq, I don't question your patriotism, I might think its misguided, but I don't question it. Your ability, your will and freedom to speak out against this war is what in my mind makes this country great, its what makes this country worthfighting for, possably even dying for. So when you you imply to me that I'm not really one of the ones protecting our boarders, I take offense to that. We, the soldiers live in reality, we are reality,we provide the world you live in, not the other way around. You live in the matrix we create. When you make you coffee in the morning you do so only because there are men like us who stand ready to do violence on your behalf, have another slice of toast. What have you done to protect your world? Words are great, but there not enough. Do you support the Minutemen, are you a member of the NRA? I am, why as a patriot as a nationalist whyarn't you? Maybe you are a member, fine, your doing what you can and I encourage that. Before I finish let me make one more thing clear about me; while I will fight for my country its her sons and daughters whom I love the most. And those sons and daughters who joined the military after 9/11 are the ones who love their country the most. And amongst us, unknowable to you, is a comradery, an honor, a code which says as long as you fight, I fight, for the soldier it doesn't matter the reasons.

Take all the offense you want, but the fact is you are not literally defendingthis country, you are a volunteer in the service of one of the most evil and dangerousrulers since Caligula, and you are often cavalier toward people who exercise their freedom of speech tochallenge you about it.
You do not protect my country, you worsen its chances of survival every day by helping to force a skull-and-bones "new world order" on everyone. We don't need people fighting and dying in countries most Americans still can't find on a map, we need them here, opposing domestic tyranny in courts, schools, columned halls of power, AND NEIGHBORHOODS. You people are fighting to "save" Iraq -- by killing it.
You do not create my matrix -- I don't haveone. The so-called American military is itself a textbook example of matrix technology at work. The fedgov and media create the fake crises and the schools (1) destroy people's ability to rationally judge the world around them, and (2) program generations of youth to believe propaganda lies and act upon them, making government their god. In turn, you in active combat are used as propaganda to manipulate the emotions of the American sheeple, creating an endless cycle of war madness whose main purpose is to DISTRACT THEM FROM WHAT "THEIR" GOVERNMENT IS DOING TO THEM.
It's a matter of record that many of your element are ready to fire on the American citizens that they (you) are now "protecting" -- without question or hesitation, ifordered to by superiors. "Just following orders" like good soldiers, you know? THIS IS "HOMELAND SECURITY"?
Many of your element (those that survive) are coming home ruined, to spend decades partly or fully dependent on taxpayers for their maintenance in dismal warehouses called VA hospitals. THIS IS PATRIOTISM? Thousands of veterans complain, no doubt justly, of being denied services. WHY DON'T YOU COME HOME AND PARK YOURSELF IN FRONT OF A RECRUITING OFFICE and point this out to the young rubes going in each business day?The economy is in imminent danger of total, real-world, real-time collapse. Who will have to account for DAVs' needs then -- their dispossessedwage-slave relatives?
I don't write any of this to accuse you or single you out on a personal basis, merely to answer things you're saying. Actually I applaud your seeking discussion on these issues. I really do-- too few in military are even willing to take a peek outside the box, much less think outside it. You'll have to forgive your critics in this forum, we have to deal day by day with the results of war fever here at home, i.e. a zombiefied ameriKan public. And more of us are being shot at, killedand hauled off to concentration camps (e.g. federal prisons) than you would ever imagine as we try to KEEP TRUTH AND FREEDOM ALIVE under the Bush/Clinton power mafia.
