I listened toi the ANU radio show on thought it was pretty good. I guess ANU is no longer broadcasting it.
Anyway, If you are interested in trying again I suggest you take a look at what vanguardnewsnetwork is doing. Therepoliticsare a little more, shall we say, extreme thanthey arehere butwhat they are doing seems like it could be applied to the ANU.
They just expanded to three shows a week with their Free Talk Live program and it doesn't seem that there is any middle manbetweeen the listener and them. I don't know any of the technical details but I do know the format is a .pls file. They have guys from their board call in using Skype which I use. Anyone can pick up a pair of Skype compatible headphones and the software is free. I just purchased a good pair for $10.00 at Radio Shack and made my first call to a relative last night. Anyway, maybe you could contact Alex Linder for technical details. He may or may not be of help but it wouldn't hurt to ask and I believe the upside would be worth it.
From what I understand, Skype isn't very clear for broadcasting purposes, but I'm certainly open to ideas and appreciate your suggestion, KD. Certainly any return to broadcasting on behalf of ANU and Nat Times will be done in a way that is as close to cost-free as possible. The membership was not willing to support the venture last fall financially and I won't ask them to again.
If we do set up somesort ofInternet broadcasting operation, it will also have to be with one or more others involved besides me, who are capable andwho understand ANU's approach and "party line" very well and wouldn't stray from it. I am stretched about as far as possible right now, but if someone else wants to put time and knowledge into it, I'm all ears.
