Less prosperity for ameriKa means less civilization -- thank God. This from the gew York Times:

This fall, law
students are competing for half as many openings at big firms as they
were last year in what is shaping up to be the most wrenching job
search season in over 50 years.</font>
For students
now, the promise of the big law firm career – and its paychecks – is
slipping through their fingers, forcing them to look at lesser firms in
smaller markets as well as opportunities in government or with public
interest groups, law school faculty and students say.</font>

The frenzy has
even pushed the nation’s top firms, a tradition-bound coterie, into
discussing how to reform the recruitment process with an earnestness
that would have been unthinkable just years ago.</font>
Even if the
economy is beginning to pick up, the legal profession has been pummeled
over the last year, with some firms closing and survivors often asking
associates to take leaves of absence.</font>
How bad is it?
Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, the juggernaut of New York,
has slashed its hiring by more than half. For the first time in 136
years, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, a respected Philadelphia firm, has
canceled its recruiting entirely. Global firms like DLA Piper and
Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe have postponed recruiting for
several months to see if the market improves.</font>
At Yale,
students accustomed to being wooed by Big Law’s glittering names – like
Baker & McKenzie; Milbank, Tweed, Hadley, & McCloy; and White
& Case – were stunned when those firms canceled interviews in New
Haven this month.</font>
New York
University, Georgetown, Northwestern and other top universities confirm
that interviews are down by a third to a half compared with a year ago,
while lower-ranked schools are suffering more. What is more, when
interviews finish in a few weeks, even fewer offers will be extended,
said Howard L. Ellin, the chairman of global hiring at Skadden, Arps,
because many firms are interviewing students for slots they may not
fill.</font>

.........................a funhouse-mirror side benefit of life under a dummacrat pezident is that neocon big-mouths get to talk conservative again for four or eight years, instead of just pounding the virtues of a monstrosity like the Bush administration(s) in the face of facts and massive public disgust.
Rush Windblab quashes all mention of "conspiracy" on his show, but is spending the day charting the fact that the the Obama health plan is actually aimed at shutting down freedom in ameriKa and totally remaking ameriKa in a "civil rights" mold. Without actually using the c-word, He all but outright accuses the fedgov (or at least its dummacrats) of fulfilling a conspiracy against us under a fake cover of concern for our health.
Similarly, in reappointing B. Shalom Bernanke the other day, pezident Oh!Bummer actually admitted the economy was on the brink of total disaster. I can't remember the last time any big shot did something other than chirp about how a turnaround was just around the corner.
You realize, of course, that this makes our pezident an anti-government conspiracy "nut" too?....
Of course, the real good news of the day is SENATOR FAT FACE IS GONE!

Are banks finally going to be forced to live right, or will they all go under now and take the entire remaining economy with them, or are they going to go their merry way regardless just like Oh!Bummer when all his schemes are being roundly rejected by politicians and people?
The above link from BlacklistedNews.com, which has STUNNING links on the shooting of the Congresscritter. Wish I had time to file the best stunners here! Well, here's one:

I guess this is what you would call "good news in a tragic, ironic vein". We must rejoice that any freedom of expression is reaffirmed (in a near-unanimous decision?????)</span> even though I'm not sure how I feel about these funeral protests. Nasty as they are, it's almost incredible that courts would agree with something so politically incorrect. I thought it was already arved in stone that offendedness gave carte blanche for successful litigation?
Oh, that's right -- it is so for certain people, but not others. Certain people still have the legal right not to be offended, but that just doesn't get mentioned here since it's a two-tiered society now and all.

No more "discrimination by race" on death row in NC?
Senate Dismantles Racial Justice Act
By Sara Burrows
RALEIGH — The Racial Justice Act allows death row inmates to appeal their sentences on the basis of statistical data that some say demonstrate rampant racial discrimination. Opponents of the law say it is a backdoor attempt to get rid of the death penalty altogether.....

The above is a grade B-plus (i.e. partly neocon) print newspaper. Among its other email headlines today: New state law means concealed handguns in city parks
