John Stossel, co-anchor of 20/20 on ABC News, is a great muckraker on this subject. From his current newletter -- two items out of many in just one issue:

An article entitled "Federal employees looting your tax dollars."
Federal employees are thriving even as the economy goes down the tubes.
And as the empire overeaches all over the globe less tax revenue is available for states in the U.S.,hence infrastructure failure, less money to combat crime, endgame, third world status for America.

WASHINGTON DC - House Democrats and Republicans have put aside their differences this year to honor the likes of golfer Phil Mickelson, the Chicago Blackhawks hockey team, NASCAR driver Jimmy Johnson and the Penn State women’s volleyball team. Every week the House spends a couple of days churning out such non-controversial bills. Beyond honoring sports achievements, they name post offices, praise armed service members, mourn distinguished people who’ve died and recognize historic anniversaries. This year the House has come together to support national pollinator week, national dairy month and national train day. Full Article

One in seven Americans are on food stamps, but the government is pushing to enroll more—in many instances working to overcome Americans’ “pride,” self-reliance or failure to see a need.
“Our common goal is to increase participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program,” the United States Department of Agriculture explains on its “Outreach Toolkits” page. “Our purpose is to ensure that those going through difficult times can feed their families healthy, nutritious food. By working as a team, we can accomplish these goals.”
The USDA has adopted a range of strategies and programs designed to bring more people to SNAP, including taking on “pride.” A 2011 Hunger Champions Award document reveals that local assistance offices have been rewarded for “counteracting” pride and pushing more people to sign up for benefits.
The Ashe County Department of Social Services in Jefferson, N.C., for example, received a “Gold” award for confronting “mountain pride” and increasing food stamp participation by 10 percent......
It should enrage even the staunchest socialist, but won't.
These bureau-rats HATE true, classic Americans and the ONLY reason they could possibly be doing this.... well, shall we say the ONLY reason this "PROGRAM" could possibly exist.... is to get millions of people onto the federal plantation.
This is infuriating!
