"African", "African American", "Afro-American" etc. are old saws by now. Everybody knows those terms are a con game, but I wonder how many people know what a total fraud they are!
Lily-livered liberals fear to say "negro" because it would mean no job and no friends anymore. Because it described something impotant and controversial before the 60s, it's considered totally obsolete, shameful, unthinkable -- which is too bad, because it's the only</span> word for what they're actually referring to.
The above words are GEOGRAPHIC designations - only. Afrikaners living in the USA are indisputibly African-Americans, but I can't get anybody to cash in on the fact! NEGRO is a racial term, and while simultaneously screaming at the world around the clock that race is everything -- for accredited victim groups, not for whites -- they don't have the guts to call any race by its proper term. Doubleplusungood not to use newspeak when political correctnes demands it!
"Asian" is another gyp-term. Way back before liberals stole the English language, the people the term describes were called Orientals. This change was well underway by the early 80s. Enjoy it while you can, because it's slated for demolition too -- everything is, all pet trigger words being replaced every 2- years whether they need it or not.
Steve Sailer mildly disagrees but has a fine column on the subject - linked today (thanks, Don).

To be frank, we really need a better term for the majority element we love. "White" hardly covers it in fact -- hold a sheet of paper up next to your hand and tell me what you see. "European-American" is fine but too long with a slightly weak sound to it. Caucasian gets about a B minus -- doubtful that the Caucasus is a mostly "caucasian" region today?
