you hear many tales of the System stress-conditioning children for lifelong sex and mind-control slavery, and pressing them into it. Cathy O'Brien/Brice Taylor is the most famous and seemingly silliest. I'm trying hard to dismiss it all as the wildest urban legend ever -- but it gets harder when some of the most intelligent people I know swear it's true. What do y'all think?

I don't know whether the unsightly Donatella is in on it, but her brother's killer quite possibly was. Killers so often follow a random or senseless atrocity by killing themselves, and that just happens to cancel any hopes of determining motive, accomplices etc. Didn't use to be that way before all these murder sprees came about in the same age in which this "manchurian candidate" industry has been alleged.

The Unabomber is in the charter.com "news" feed today. Excerpts from his Wikipedia article just might explain everything:

At six months of age, Ted's body was covered in hives. He was placed in isolation in a hospital where visitors were not allowed, as doctors were unsure of the cause of the hives. He was treated several times at the hospital over an eight month period. His mother wrote in March 1943, "Baby home from hospital and is healthy but quite unresponsive after his experience."[11]

As a result of testing conducted in the fifth grade, which determined he had an IQ of 167, he was allowed to skip the sixth grade and enroll in the seventh grade. Kaczynski described this as a pivotal event in his life.

He also participated in a multiple-year personality study conducted by Dr. Henry Murray, an expert on stress interviews.[12] Students in Murray's study were told they would be debating personal philosophy with a fellow student.[13] Instead they were subjected to a "purposely brutalizing psychological experiment"[13] stress test, which was an extremely stressful, personal, and prolonged psychological attack. During the test, students were taken into a room, strapped into a chair and connected to electrodes that monitored their physiological reactions, while facing bright lights and a two-way mirror. Each student had previously written an essay detailing their personal beliefs and aspirations: the essays were turned over to an anonymous attorney, who would enter the room and individually belittle each strapped-down student based in part on the disclosures they had made. This was filmed, and students' expressions of impotent rage were played back to them several times later in the study. According to author Alston Chase, Kaczynski's records from that period suggest he was emotionally stable when the study began. Kaczynski's lawyers attributed some of his emotional instability and dislike of mind control to his participation in this study.[13][14] Indeed, some have suggested that this experience may have been instrumental in Kaczynski's future actions.[15]

Maybe the story goes like this: boy is born with super high IQ. Has freakish illness, is confined in hospital and becomes psy-ops guinea pig or manchurian candidate subject. He comes home traumatized and grows up unhappy and oppressed in a world that punishes excellence. In college he is suddenly given another round of mind-control torture conditioning (perhaps with a college course and entire classroom of other students as camouflage), learns to hate the System and, grossly warped and victimized by it, lashes out in ways bizarre and criminal.

A murderer is a murderer and needs to be punished, but it does appear that many of the ones that make big headlines have long since been scoured of their own will and personality and become mere robots of the illustrious and revered new world order devil worshipers.

Because Kaczyniski is rated left-leaning rather than right-, Wiki gives him a neutral, almost reverent, opening summary:

Kaczynski was accepted into Harvard University at the age of 16, where he earned an undergraduate degree, and later earned a PhD in mathematics from the University of Michigan. He became an assistant professor at the University of California, Berkeley at age 25, but resigned two years later.

These first two paragraphs contain only eighteen words of negativity. Contrast them, if you will, with their equivalents in the article on David Duke. Each of the first two starts by hammering the KKK theme and they immediately list all of his political failures they can think of:
