In todays usa, you, citizen, are a non-entity. Yes the politicos still scramble for your vote, but thats only so they can step another rung up the ladder. They're already a member of the club, not the board that grants admission or decides policy of course, but approved to play in the club. You want immigration halted and are ignored, same with foreign aid, free-trade, etc.. You no longer matter in your own nation. Its been subverted and sold out from under you.
