"Yankee" has its positive meanings, e.g. "yankee ingenuity", a perceived New England talent for problem solving). I enjoy the occasional issue of Yankee magazine that comes my way -- "one of the few remaining family-owned and independent magazine publishers in the United States." according to Wicked Pedia. Much of the time, however, the word has pejorative (even maledictory) connotations. This is not to say all Northerners are bad -- far from it! Merely to probe another great oddity of language.

All of which is merely my excuse of a way to bring you another fun and funny discovery in Wicked Pedia that just came my way. As prodded by the Merlin Miller thread here, poking around Wiki for its take on various "white nationalist" movements worldwide, this tragicomic stunner:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parti_C...-Europ%C3%A9en

The PCN was founded in 1984 as a successor to the similar Parti Communautaire Européen. The party bases its ideas on those of Jean-François Thiriart[1], who served as an advisor to Michel for a time after the foundation of the group, and seeks the creation of a single European state stretching entity from Russia to the Atlantic coast. Including activists with origins on both the far right and far left, it seeks to liberate Europe from its 'Yankee and Zionist enemies'.

The Parti is referring to the other sense of the Y-word -- ameriKans collectively as viewed and suffered by the rest of the world. But I have to laugh, since the the highlighted phrase is so suddenly frank and identical to what many in our ranks would say! Of course they have to ruin everything with that "national Bolshevist" crap. Do you smell gefiltefish?....

Apparently Don changed the Culture section to Cultural Marxism.
